Mounting

Where to put the ECU, orientation, heat, vibration and water.

Mount the ECU in the cabin or a sealed tunnel box — not in the engine bay if you can avoid it. The 3D-printed ABS case is water-resistant (a waterproof build is available on request), but heat-soak and oil vapour will still shorten everything.

  • Connectors facing down or to the side. Never connectors-up: water sits in the cavities.
  • Isolation mounts (rubber) on a stiff panel. A thin sheet-metal parcel shelf will fatigue the solder joints.
  • Keep 150 mm from ignition coils, starter solenoids and electric water pumps. The VR inputs will thank you.
  • Keep 300 mm from turbo hot-side, downpipe and exhaust manifolds. If you can see the header, it is too close.
  • Do not mount under the windscreen scuttle on a rally car. That is a water feature.
Preferred location
Passenger footwell, behind dash, sealed tunnel box
Fasteners
M4 or M5 into lid bosses / flange
Orientation
Connectors down or sideways
Service loop
Enough slack to unplug A/B/C without unbolting
