What each class of pin can and cannot do.

Low-side drivers (16 × 4 A)

Open-drain to ground with flyback. Use for saturated injectors, relay coils, PWM boost solenoids, PWM idle valves and lamps. One injector per pin. Firing order is assigned in software — you may wire injectors in loom order and remap.

Do not parallell two 4 A loads onto one pin and hope. Do not drive a high-current fan motor directly; drive a relay or a solid-state module.

Ignition (12 × 5 V)

Logic-level outputs for smart coils and igniter modules (GM LSx, Denso stick, IGN-1A, Bosch smart coils). They are among the least robust pins on the board — a short to 12 V or a dumb coil primary will kill the driver. Confirm coil type before you plug A in.

High-side (4 × 12 V / 3 A)

Switched 12 V sourced from the +12 V MR rail. Typical: VVT oil-control valves, lock-up solenoids that want high-side, or a switched 12 V feed to a small module. They only work if B23 is powered.

H-bridges

Two H-bridges on Connector B. Primary use is a drive-by-wire throttle (ETB1). ETB2 is a second throttle, a second motor, or a bipolar stepper idle valve. Unipolar steppers are not supported.

Analogs

  • AV 1–11: 0–5 V, weak pull-down, protected. MAP, TPS, PPS, analog wideband, 0–5 V pressure sensors.
  • AT 1–4: 5 V pull-up (typically 2.7 kΩ) for NTC thermistors. CLT on AT 4, IAT on AT 2 by convention in this manual.

Triggers

  • VR 1 / VR 2: magnetic pickups. Polarity matters. Shield to sensor ground.
  • Digital 1–6: Hall, optical (except Nissan 360), flex-fuel frequency, launch/clutch/brake switches. Hall sensors need 5 V or 12 V and sensor ground; signal to the digital pin.

Knock and CAN

Knock 1/2 are dedicated band-pass inputs — not generic analogs. Use shielded cable, shield at the ECU sensor ground. CAN 1 is on B16/B17. Terminate the bus at both ends with 120 Ω.
